Joey Joesph announces Nite Vibes

Lost in Ohio is excited to welcome Joey Joesph to the family! A longtime fixture in the Cincinnati music scene, Joey has been writing and recording music for well over a decade, most notably as a founding member of psych-pop outfit Pomegranates. He’s also released a steady stream of acclaimed solo albums where his talents as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter shine. His eclectic style has earned comparisons to R. Stevie Moore, The Zombies, Arcade Fire, and David Bowie—all artists known for pushing boundaries and embracing theatrical flair.

Today we’re thrilled to announce Nite Vibes, Joey’s brand-new LP and his sixth full-length in just five years. The album will be released on August 27, 2021, both digitally and on vinyl, with pre-orders available now.

Originally conceived as a set of disco-tinged vignettes written during back-room restaurant shifts, Nite Vibes took on a fuller, darker tone once Joey began shaping it around a central character. The turning point came while writing the song “Believe in the Moonlight” at Sabbath Recording in Cincinnati alongside producers Jacob Merritt and Matt Latchaw. The lyrics—“I’m no righteous man in holy robes… thinking of the child star”—set the tone for what would become the origin story of Joey’s extra-dimensional pop star alter-ego.

Drawing inspiration from concept albums like Pink Floyd’s The Wall and David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Joey created an immersive, dramatic world that leans heavily into moody synths, retro grooves, and glam-rock theatrics. Bowie’s Diamond Dogs was a particularly strong influence: “It was so bizarre I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first,” Joey says. “Which is usually a good sign.”

Two Joey tracks are streaming now as part of Joey’s debut single with Lost in Ohio:

• “Wolf Man” is a high-energy pop gem with propulsive drums, a punchy bassline, and a nod to rock’s rich tradition of werewolf tunes. It starts off fast and ferocious, then veers into more introspective terrain.

• “The Softest Warning” captures a late-night drive energy, full of whispered vocals, dreamy synths, and a deep, slow-motion dancefloor pulse. It’s moody, cinematic, and completely hypnotic.
