Sixpence None the Richer
Nashville, TN
Sixpence None the Richer emerged from Texas in the early ’90s, blending poetic lyricism with dreamy, alt-rock textures. Their 1995 album This Beautiful Mess marked an early milestone, featuring a full band with their most dynamic, aggressive sound. With standout tracks like "Within a Room Somewhere" and "Angeltread," it showcased the chemistry between Matt Slocum’s intricate songwriting, Leigh Nash’s ethereal vocals, and their powerhouse rhythm section.
The band later broke into the mainstream with their platinum self-titled release, featuring the single "Kiss Me" (1998), earning global recognition. Their cover of "There She Goes" and 2002’s Divine Discontent solidified their status in the alternative pop world.
They reunited for Lost in Transition (2012) and returned again in 2023 with "The Tide." In 2024, they announced the Rosemary Hill EP and a 25th-anniversary tour featuring the classic lineup. Through label struggles, reinventions, and timeless melodies, Sixpence None the Richer continues to captivate listeners across generations.
