Kickstarting the Aunt Betty's LP on vinyl
Share
We’re thrilled to announce the Kickstarter campaign for the first-ever vinyl release of the Aunt Bettys’ self-titled debut album! This long-overdue reissue is our most ambitious Michael Knott project yet—and we need your help to bring it to life.
Formed in the mid-’90s, Aunt Bettys was a flash of brilliance that could’ve launched Michael Knott into mainstream stardom. With big-league ambitions and a fresh lineup—Brian Doidge, Chuck Cummings, and new guitarist Andrew Carter—Knott assembled a band that tore through the LA club scene and sparked a label bidding war between Island, Elektra, and others.
In the end, the band signed to EastWest, delivered a killer debut album... and then imploded just as quickly as they rose. EastWest gave the album only minimal promotion, and the Aunt Bettys disappeared almost overnight. But the music? Some of Knott’s strongest songs ever, captured with a major-label budget at the peak of his creative powers.
We’ve had the honor of working on several Michael Knott reissues already, including Strip Cycle and The Grape Prophet, but this is our biggest undertaking yet. This deluxe reissue of Aunt Bettys will include:
- 180g heavy-weight vinyl in two stunning color variants
- Gatefold jacket with lyric inserts and rare photos
- Glass-mastered CDs in Digipak with full booklet
- Cassettes with extended fold-out J-cards
- Limited-edition t-shirts and posters
- Brand-new-album artwork by celebrated painter Stephen Cefalo, inspired by the original album visuals
- Remastered audio by Christopher Colbert, sourced from the original Warner Bros. master tapes
- Never-before-seen photos and memorabilia from the band's brief but brilliant run
This is your chance to help us give Aunt Bettys the deluxe reissue it always deserved. If you’ve been waiting years—or decades—for this album to get its proper due, now’s the time.
